About

Anxiety in motherhood seems to be a given these days. The question isn't 'are you anxious about something?', because everybody is. It's assumed and even joked about - 'I'm a crazy mama. I'm so tired yet I still wake up all the time to check my baby is sleeping' The question is 'Am I normal?' or 'will I always feel like this?'. Anxiety has been normalised to an extent, but Anna doesn't think that's okay. She believes we can live without the inside of our minds feeling like a battleground. Women feel accustomed to living with their anxiety, but at the same time, they want to believe that it doesn't have to be that way. Anxiety is tiring people out and making motherhood a less pleasant, more fraught and pressured experience. Mums are desperate for someone to tell them: 1 - It's normal 2 - It won't always feel this way 3 - Tried, tested, professional, tangible, lived-out solid and grounded advice that reframes anxiety They come to Anna for this. But they also come to her to be given insight, simple tools, and to have their anxiety reframed. They come to her for light bulb moments of realisation, to be affirmed that they aren't going crazy, and to be taught how to see things differently and challenge the thoughts that fill their mind. They come to her to be encouraged to address habitual behaviour, and to challenge pre-existing coping mechanisms with encouragement and assurance. The most powerful tool Anna has to communicate this, isn't the letters after her name, it is the fact that she is open about her own experience of maternal anxiety. By sharing her journey, she gives her audience the confidence to voice theirs. It both normalises their experience whilst also giving real-life, tangible insight into the fact that anxiety most certainly doesn't have to rule their lives and take up all available headspace.
