About
Based on a memoir by Mende Nazer of her real-life experiences of being kidnapped by Arab slave raiders in 1993, along with 30 other children and sold into slavery. This film depicts one woman's escape from modern-day slavery. The story unfolds as twelve-year-old Malia, is abducted from her Sudanese village in the Nubar Mountains by pro-government Arab militia and sold into slavery to a woman in Khartoum. After six years she is sent to London with a warning that her father will die if she goes to the authorities.
